It’s Easy: You’re interested, You have 2 hours/month to commit to your child’s school, You’re IN!
President: Preside at all meetings of the organization and the executive board, be a member ex-officio of all committees; have general supervision over the affairs of the organization; and perform other duties like: Help set-up and assist in ordering breakfast for teachers beginning of year (week before school starts), hand out otter pops and assist with ZEF communication during open house and back to school nights, make sure papers, envelopes and folders are prepared prior to folder stuffing day, prepare folders for open house with officers and volunteers (week before school starts), help buy food and set up for the Kindergarten breakfast and ESL breakfast, participate in Fall Festival as needed, assist in counting of money for ZEF, communicate (as little or as much as you see fit) with committees and assist as they may need help, prepare newsletters – on months without PTO meetings, prepare Agenda for Principal and PTO meetings (using any information from communications with committees), know the financial situation from Treasurer to be able to vote on any grants that come thru from teachers.
Treasurer: Keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures of the organization, present a financial statement at each business meeting of the organization and at other times, when requested by the organization; keep the membership informed of expenditures as they relate to the budget adopted by the organization and make an annual financial report to the organization which includes gross receipts and disbursements for the year. The treasurer is also responsible for working with the building officer manager to train PTO volunteers on the financial responsibilities associated with PTO events to ensure alignment with building practices. Work with Jen Howard, using PTO reports and email communications keep up the Treasurers report. Prepare folders for open house (week before school starts), assist with Kindergarten Breakfast and Fall Festival
Barnes & Noble: Find a Children’s Author to speak at a Zach assembly in 2019, as well as sign their books at Barnes & Noble in March of 2019. Updating the informational flyer with the new author’s information, setting up links to purchase their books prior to the event at the book store, and working with the school and author to coordinate dates of Assembly and book store event.
Fall Festival: Work with event rental company to coordinate details (DJ, climbing wall, bouncy houses, etc), coordinate food trucks and vendors, manage all details associated with the event in late August, work with volunteer coordinator to email and acquire parent volunteers for the festival, work with PTO members to market the event to parents, coordinate sales of wristbands or tickets to students as entrance to the event.
3rd Grade Book Bowl: work with an existing team member in 3rd Grade, and the experienced 4th Grade managers to coordinate the activities associated with the Book Bowl at the third grade level.
