Dear Brent and Zach Elementary staff (and Parents),
On behalf of the Safe Routes to School team, I’d like to thank you and the other Zach Elementary staff members for your incredible support and contribution to our bike safety program. Your preparation of students and staff for our program was a key factor in our success. I believe we gave the students a very positive learning experience. I think your students definitely stepped up to the challenge they were presented and learned a lot about being safe cyclists on our sidewalks, streets, and bike trails. Parental support is important as well, and we appreciate your getting notices out to parents to remind families about the upcoming bike safety classes.
There were approximately 33 parent volunteers! Thank you Brent for making that happen. Thanks also, for taking the time to see what your students get to learn about during our bike safety program. I believe we taught at least 18 students to ride bikes for the first time! Seeing them beam after finally learning to ride is always a most rewarding part of this job.
If you have students who are interested in further bike experiences, you might suggest that they watch for the City of Fort Collins Spring/Summer Recreators – we have a very extensive schedule of bike camps next summer for students 5-12 years old.
Thanks again for your support,
Debbie Uphoff Safe Routes to School Lead Instructor
