I love being out doors experiencing nature. I love to hike, camp, climb, telemark ski, cross country ski and snowshoe. I also love to travel internationally to immerse myself in new cultures.
"True teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross; then, having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create their own."
Classes I teach at Zach:
- Social Studies
Prior to moving to Fort Collins this summer, I taught middle school math and science for 5 years at a small K-8 public school in Casper, Wyoming called Woods Learning Center. One of those years I taught a stand-alone 6th grade class in addition to a section of 7th grade science.
I started my career teaching the last 6th grade class at the elementary schools and followed by two 4th to 5th grade loops at a traditional elementary school in Casper.
I have my masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Adam's State University with a STEM Certification from Columbia Teacher's College through the NASA Endeavour program.
I operate under the philosophy of work hard so I can play hard, and the same applies to my classroom. I love to use technology, music, and the outdoors to enhance the learning experiences for my students. I see myself as a facilitator of learning with students having a voice in learning opportunities. Sometimes it's focused and quiet, while others times my classroom is engaged and chaotic.
